4WD Tasmania is an organisation representing 4WD recreational vehicle clubs and their members. Our membership consists of 12 4WD Clubs with ~300 members all over in Tasmania.
4WD Tasmania formed in 1985, it was previously known as Tasmanian Recreational Vehicles Association. It is a non-profit organisation to meet the perceived need for a unified voice for recreational vehicle users, and is used to lobby Government Departments on track issues regarding access and maintenance.
A similar State body exists in other Australian States and in the Northern Territory, and these State bodies form the basis of the Australian National Four Wheel Drive Council (ANFWDC), which again provides a unified voice, in addition to an information exchange centre. 4WD Tasmania is involved with the ANFWDC and has an elected delegate on the committee.
4WD Tasmania promotes the responsible use of public and private lands by educational programs and has issued several brochures directed at protecting the areas and tracks used by recreational vehicle owners. Efforts are also directed at encouraging members of the public to join an affiliated club.
